From Alpago to Faenza, solidarity shortens distances

A year has passed, but we have not forgotten the images of the terrible flood that hit Emilia Romagna in the spring of 2023; images, which pushed the ABVS Alpago Section committee to take action and promote a fundraiser, organizing a “Solidarity walk” on 30 July last year, starting from Puos and arriving in Farra, on the shores of Lake Santa Cross.

The beautiful sunny day favored participation and even those who could not be present wanted to contribute with an offer. At a later time – says spokesperson Doriana De Francesch – «the members of the section contacted the relevant offices of the Municipality of Faenza, who indicated to us the day center for the elderly “Casa Cimatti”, managed by the Cooperative “L’Alveare” , whose structure had been seriously damaged by the flood. The amount raised was used to purchase a medicine trolley; last June 1st a delegation from the Alpago section came to Faenza for the delivery”.

«Solidarity shortens distances», declared the section secretary Eugenio Paladini, introducing himself to the manager of the structure who expressed a moving thank you for the sensitivity shown.

«This is a gesture that makes us proud – the secretary highlighted – which demonstrates how our association is always ready to intervene whenever the need arises and not only through the donation of blood. The renovation work on the day center is coming to an end and in a few months the structure will be able to reopen its doors and welcome users… also thanks to our modest contribution.”
