“Today it is natural that the post-election political commentary should be unpacked into two parts” comments the mayor of Rimini and president of the Province Jamil Sadegholvaad “European and therefore, in the afternoon, administrative for the 16 municipalities of the Province of Rimini. I think some indications emerge regarding the European vote:
1. A more or less pronounced right-wing wind is definitely blowing in Europe
2. Once again, the governing parties of EU countries are penalized. With one exception. Italy. There is no doubt that this vote rewards Giorgia Meloni: after two years in government her support is growing although the centre-right coalition has not grown except very slightly. What Meloni gains from one European to another, Salvini loses but the total is almost identical
3. The PD did very well, beyond what the pre-vote polls attested. Elly is credited with choosing a local campaign rather than a media one and this paid off. This data has an even broader value if we think of the record preferences that Bonaccini, Nardella, Gori, Decaro and Ricci had. The territories and the entrenched candidates pulled out a lot and well for the entire PD. Without starting with the usual story of the ‘mayors’ party’, which is sterile and nonsense, in my opinion we must simply say that where we are on track and on the issues that interest the communities, the results arrive. This, for the PD, must be a point of restart and not of relief or internal counting. We need to make the most of this 24-odd percent, a very positive result, with the ability to build alliances on strategic and concrete issues for the country, its families, its businesses. Rather than the broad field, a slogan that leaves the time it finds, we need to set sail for the broad sea of concreteness. If we are able to transform this abundant 24 percent into a solid vessel for the PD, a new season of alliances will open, first of all with the social blocs and the territories
4. In Rimini the PD is the leading party. Stefano Bonaccini has caused a boom in preferences in the province. A satisfactory result obtained thanks to a work shared by many women and men to which I would like to add the work of this municipal administration. Well. You breathe a serene and shared climate in the Rimini PD: this is a very positive fact, both for the present and for the future.
Declining turnout in the province of Rimini: for 2024 it is 52.97 percent against 61.67 percent in 2019. In terms of absolute votes we go from 165,983 voters in 2019 to 141,940 in 2024 (- 24,043 votes). Fratelli d’Italia completely drains the League’s decline. From one European to another, the League in the Province of Rimini loses 49,795 votes while the Brothers of Italy gains 38,592. The PD is the first party in: Cattolica, Poggio Torriana, Rimini, San Giovanni in Marignano, Sant’Agata Feltria, Santarcangelo and Talamello. In the other municipalities the leading party is the Brothers of Italy. If in 2019 the difference between the PD and the first CDX party (Lega) was almost 18 thousand votes in favor of the latter, this year the gap between the first center-right party (FDI) and the PD is reduced to just over 2 thousand votes .
