Padua, food products worth over 3 million euros seized

A vast operation conducted by the Padua Financial Police led to seizure of 3.5 million euros in products intended to come into contact with food, without the necessary safety certifications. The materials, found in a warehouse in the industrial area of the city, were intended for takeaway and home delivery of food.

The investigation, conducted by Green Basques from the Padua group, made it possible to identify a company that operated in the wholesale trade of MOCA products (Materials and Objects in Contact with Food), without the quality mark required by law. These products, used for direct contact with food, are expected to comply with strict European regulations to avoid contamination risks.

During the operation, performed in collaboration with the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service (SIAN) of the ULSS 6 Euganea, a shed was discovered where the products were stored in a disorderly manner and without any information for the consumer.

They were also missing raw material traceability certifications used for their production. The company had not even notified its activity to the competent health authorities, as required by national legislation.

The owner of the company has been reported to the competent offices of the Municipality for administrative violations. All the seized products have been withdrawn from the market, to safeguard consumers and protect public health.
