There is the overtaking in the wide field (unpredictable but possible), there is the exploit of Lello Topo (strange in Campania but less so in the rest of the southern constituency), but above all there is the dramatic fact of the abstention in Naples city (36.8 percent of voters, in 2019 it was 40 percent). And in Naples city Lucia Annunziata beats Giorgia Meloni: 20.666 to 18.030. It is a counter-trend picture, as always, that painted by Southern Italy and Campania. But let’s start with the numbers.
The data
In the southern constituency the Pd is at 24.4 percentcontinues Fdi with 23.6 percent. Only in third place was the M5S with 16.7 percentor, Forza Italia at 10.7 percent, the League at 6.8 percent, Alleanza Verdi Sinistra at 5.6 percent. In Campania, Elly Schlein’s party remains first with 22.2 percent, but the Grillini, bucking the trend, surpass the Melonians, the former are at 20.7 percent and the latter at 19.3 percent. Forza Italia reaches 10.7 percent, Avs at 7. United States of Europe surpasses the League, 6.8 percent against 5.7 percent. In Naples the situation changes once again: it is a head-to-head Pd-5Stelle, 26.6 to 26.5 percent. Fdi is at 13.2. Incredible Avs at 12.7, FI at 6.6, the League at 3.1.
Preferences
The real surprises, however, come when you sift through the lists of preferences. The most voted in the South is Giorgia Meloni with more than 534 thousand votes, closely followed by the mayor of Bari, the dem Antonio Decaro with 487 thousand votes. But in Campania the real exploit is that of Lello Topo 110 thousand 572, out of the total 123 thousand (Meloni scrapes together 171 thousand to understand the firepower). Not very well known on the national scene, in the Region he is considered a lord of preferences and he has demonstrated it: former mayor of Villaricca, former regional councilor, former parliamentarian, in the Dem geography it is part of Lorenzo Guerini’s area, with the Pd group leader Mario Casillo he created a political couple, “the goal twins” they call them, they always win when they run. It also overtakes the leaders Lucia Annunziata which reaches 105,444 in the region (253 thousand in the constituency) and almost double Decaro (68,174), the vice-president of the European Parliament Pina Picierno (62,755) and Sandro Ruotolo (52,345).
The exploits
At 5Stelle, the leader of the list Pasquale Tridico is far ahead of his internal opponents: of the approximately 11 thousand total votes in Campania he gets 49,491. Followed by Danilo Della Valle with 25,851 votes and Laura De Vita (former assistant of Roberto Fico) with 20,611 preferences (in total 24,424). In the so-called wide field another exploit is certainly that of Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the most social Avs deputy there is, in Campania he surpasses the leader Mimmo Lucano: 42,927 votes (47,934 total) against 25,659 (73,431).
The centre-right
In the Prime Minister’s party it is she who gets the most votes. But the prize for second place goes to Alberico Gambino, former mayor of Cava dei Tirreni, with 59,560 votes (89 thousand total). The former undersecretary Vittorio Sgarbi stops at 8,295 votes. In the ranks of Forza Italia, however, it is the current group leader in Europe who has the upper hand over its leader. In fact, Fulvio Martusciello surpasses Antonio Tajani: 68,647 against 42,525. Even in the ranks of the League in Campania the big shot Aldo Patricielloformer Italian king of private healthcare, rakes in 31,831 (67,637) and surpasses the leader Vannacci 19,513 (70,518).
The United States of Europe team remains out but gains a share of the market. The regional councilor Nicola Caputo conquers 36,992 preferences by exceeding Matteo Renzi (34,417). Sandra Lonardo Mastella is ahead of the leaders Enzo Maraio: 27,971 to 26,259.
