After a few days of stopping the fountain in Piazza Cavour has started working again. One of the stone “plates” was deactivated, but all the other jets were active again and ready to provide the backdrop for selfies and tourist photos. The fountain is often used by guides as a meeting point for groups to start walking tours of the city.
No one, given what has happened in recent weeks, can say with certainty how long the system will be able to remain switched on also because in recent days the Municipality had explained that a significant water leak had been detected which would have required extensive excavations and interventions on the flowerbed. (among other things recently transformed with the planting of colorful flowers) not compatible with the tourist season. In the meantime, however, those who passed by the “living room” yesterday could not help but notice the jets of different heights embellishing the most visited area of the whole city, together with the lakefront and Piazza Duomo.
The fountains have been observed specially for some time now: first the initial tests which had given positive results, then the arrangement of the flowerbed until the first problems. At the beginning they concerned the jets and they were resolved although with more maintenance operations until the stop due to the loss of water. Now the new restoration on whose duration we are accepting bets. For the moment, however, the fountain works.
