06/09/2024 – The Pesaro baseball club consolidates its lead in the standings with the important victory against Ravenna with the result of 6-3.

The match, played on the Fano diamond for the continuation of the renovation works on the Pesaro facility, saw a mix of experience and freshness that made the difference against a tenacious but not incisive enough Ravenna.

The match began with both teams studying each other, maintaining a substantial balance in the early stages of the game. The first two innings ended with no runs scored, with both teams’ pitchers demonstrating great control and accuracy.

Pesaro decided to trust many of its young players, a move that proved successful. Rookie pitcher Marco Rossi, just eighteen years old, impressed with a series of crucial strikeouts that slowed down Ravenna’s attack at key moments of the game.

Batter Leonardo Bianchi, 19, also played a key role, scoring two runs with a fourth-inning home run that fired up the home crowd. Bianchi’s performance wasn’t just limited to the attack; in fact, he also demonstrated great skill in defense, helping to maintain his team’s lead.
After a balanced start, it was Pesaro who took the lead in the third inning, scoring three runs thanks to a combination of well-placed serves from Francescangeli, Rodriguez and Ruspini.

The defense holds the result firm, and the attack inspired once again by Rodriguez and Ruspini increases its lead by another 3 points.
During the ninth inning, Ravenna tried to react, managing to score three runs and reduce the deficit. However, Pesaro’s defence, strengthened by the presence of aggressive young players, was able to handle the pressure. The last inning saw the debut on the mound of Andrea Maccaroni who with excellent control closed the game definitively.

Pesaro manager, Iacomucci Thomas, said he was very satisfied with the performance of his young players: “It was fantastic to see how our young people responded to the challenge and certainly the presence of Mirko Ruspini with his experience and dedication was an example for everyone”.

Pesaro’s 6-3 victory against Ravenna marks an important step forward for the team, which aims to confirm its potential this season. The choice to field many young players proved to be a winning strategy, which not only led to the consolidation of first place in the standings, but also ignited the enthusiasm of the fans who came on a forced trip to follow their team.

Next weekend of rest for the senior team, while several youth athletes will be involved with the Marche team at the Regions Tournament hosted in Piedmont.
