80th anniversary of the first interdiocesan Eucharistic congress of Puglia

8-9-10 June 2004

Twenty years have passed since the 80th anniversary of the First Pugliese Eucharistic Congress entitled “Without Sunday we cannot live”. It was announced and celebrated in the Basilica-Cathedral by HE Rev. Mons. Giovan Battista Pichierri, Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie – Titular of Nazareth. Together with the Archconfraternity of the Whites, the Congress saw the involvement of the entire diocesan ecclesial community. There was a historical, liturgical and cultural cut.

The program follows.

Tuesday 8 June 2004 – 7pm

“Parish: Eucharistic community”

Speaker: Prof. Cesare Giraudo (professor of Theology at the Pontifical Oriental Institute).

“The Interdiocesan Eucharistic Congress 1924-2004”

Speaker: Very Rev. Don Saverio Pellegrino (parish priest)

Wednesday 9 June 2004 – 8.00 pm

“Laudate Dominum” Competition

City and parish choirs organized by the diocesan Pastoral Liturgy Commission

Thursday 10 June 2004 – Solemnity of Corpus Christi

6.00 pm Solemn Concelebration of the diocesan Church. Presided by HE Rev. Mons. Francesco Cacucci, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bari-Bitonto

7.30pm Solemn diocesan Eucharistic procession. All parish communities, Archconfraternities, Confraternities, Associations, Movements and ecclesial groups of the Archdiocese, Diocesan Laity Council, Civil and Military Authorities participate.
