How have the music and songs changed over the years and in particular during the last five Sanremo festivals? The docufilm “Sanremo Dietro la Quinta”, born from an idea by Stefano Corsi and Leonardo Lo Frano, produced by the Rai Production Management – Cptv Roma, broadcast on Saturday 8 June at midnight and 8pm on Rai 1, puts the spotlight on the efforts, the anxieties and fears that hover among the artists, while one can already breathe a climate of great complicity and anticipation, from the very first rehearsals, in Rome, on a set behind closed doors, in which only the camera of director Leonardo Lo Frano she was able to enter.
The frenzy of the last days preceding the competition arrives behind the scenes and pervades singers, orchestras and Rai workers who reveal themselves and relive their first memory of the Festival experienced as children, sharing it with the camera.
It’s a short step from their memory to the immense heritage of Teche Rai: to celebrate the company’s anniversaries – 70 years of TV and 100 of radio – an unprecedented selection of archive images on past festivals and on Italy in white and black embellishes the story. Finally, through a technical expedient of live sound decomposition, for the first time the viewer will have the opportunity to listen to the a cappella interpretations of their idols on the most important stage in Italy: in the most intense moment of the performancethe instrumental sounds will suddenly lower, leaving room for the magic of the naked voice.
