There is waste at the level crossing in the center of Olbia

Many waste at the level crossing Olbiaat the crossroads between Corso Umberto, Corso Vittorio Veneto, via San Simplicio And via Mameli. The people of Olbia have almost become accustomed to seeing it, given that it has been there for a long time, but not i tourists, who are starting to crowd the city for the summer season that has just begun. In fact, we are not in a peripheral, little-frequented area, but on the most important streets of Olbia, traveled daily by hundreds of people. A short distance away, almost close by, there are bus stops that take you to the beaches, where dozens of tourists stop every day. The area has recently been the subject of an intervention by redevelopment by the Railways.

Between restyling and degradation

It was done restyling exterior of the entire level crossing, with the delimitation of the railway area, the laying of driveway mats between the tracks to smooth out the roughness, and the installation of lights and cameras. Unfortunately, what appears to the eyes of the people of Olbia as well as tourists is a degraded and dirty area. In particular, we notice a large pile of plastic but the rubbish, waste paper, empty cans and many other waste thrown away by who knows who and for who knows how long, is scattered everywhere. The same situation, perhaps made worse by the fact that the area is protected from the eyes of passers-by by a fence, is found within the fenced area close to the railway, on the border with Corso Vittorio Veneto. Evidently it is easy for the usual uncivilized people to throw waste and walk away, perhaps convinced that “the eye does not see, the heart does not hurt”.

Here a waste receptacle has been created, an illegal landfill which adds, despite the relentless fight against uncivilized people by the municipal administration, to the others present in the city. Cans, bottles and lots of other rubbish that can be seen overflowing onto Corso Vittorio Veneto, on the wall under the fence. An unseemly, disgusting and unworthy sight for a town that is trying to enhance its territory, which is otherwise beautiful, and attract more and more tourists. The residents hope for an intervention from the authorities in charge to clean up the area and identify those who have caused and continue to cause this degradation throughout the territory. Only with everyone’s commitment will it be possible to keep Olbia clean and welcoming for residents and tourists.
