PESCARA. Lower municipal taxes to protect small businesses and local craftsmanship. And the mayoral candidates say yes to the Cna’s request, with the president Cristian Odoardi and the director Luciano Di Lorito. While waiting for the merger between Pescara, Montesilvano and Spoltore, scheduled for 1 January 2027, the Cna asks the candidates «to look beyond contingency, designing an attractive city, where it is easy to move, comfortable to stop, with a unique agenda of events that enrich the tourist offer”. And the first step is to lower taxes.
MASCI The outgoing mayor Carlo Masci, re-candidate from the centre-right, says: «I have always been in favor of easing taxes as a cultural approach. We are also supported by the Court of Auditors which, in recent weeks, has certified the Municipality’s exit from the predisposition starting from 1 January 2025. From that date, therefore”, announces the mayor, “we will be able to make this aspect concrete, lowering precisely the taxes and municipal tariffs”. And Masci assures that, in the event of re-election, the watchword will be “concertation”: “We are available and always open to discussion. It is not a promise but it is the concreteness of the facts which are supported by 5 years of administration, during which discussion has never failed and will never fail. The CNA’s request for a memorandum of understanding is acceptable and we will get to work immediately once re-elected.” On the protection of local craftsmanship, Masci says: «I think about how we would like to intervene, for example, on the issue of state concessions, creating a sort of substantial recognition, a concrete protection, always taking into account the general guidelines, for those who have invested time and money to create a solid, often family-run, seaside business over the years, and we will do the same for other artisan businesses.”
CONSTANTINES Carlo Costantini, candidate of the centre-left: «On the topic of municipal taxes and duties», he says, «my idea of Nuova Pescara is to prepare a careful analysis of the organizational models and the best experiences, also and above all valorising the Municipalities of Montesilvano and of Spoltore, whose numbers tell us that, at times, they work better and more than that of Pescara. I absolutely welcome your proposals regarding support for the birth of new initiatives: our program provides for the introduction of funds for the creation of new entrepreneurial activities, while at the same time establishing desks to listen to new entrepreneurs”.
COMBS Domenico Pettinaricandidate for civic mayor, says: «The vast majority of the Cna’s proposals are already present in our program, demonstrating the great sensitivity we have towards the issues authoritatively discussed».
FUSILLI Gianluca Fusilli, candidate with Renzi’s United States of Europe, proposes «the abolition, for an experimental period of at least three years, of the tax on public land occupation. We support any initiative aimed at reducing local taxation for new businesses. Crafts and commerce are experiencing a phase of profound crisis, evidenced by the many unlit shop windows in the city: it is the duty of the public administration which will come, after 10 June, in the meantime to eliminate urban decay and neglect throughout the city, maintenance which is not relegated to the last sixty days before the vote, but is continuous and planned for the entire duration of the legislature, avoiding the random interventions of recent weeks which have led, in some areas, to the impossibility of circulation and significant damage to economic activities. There is a need”, he concludes, “for an extraordinary cleaning intervention, the level of which is not worthy of Pescara’s ambitions, and for an extraordinary investment in lighting: an illuminated city is safer”.
