June 9th marks the conclusion of “I Love Fish”, an event dedicated to lake, river and sea fish which takes place in the green Leonardo Cenci of Pian di Massiano in Perugia, opens its doors to the public starting from 11am of the morning. The final day opens with the award ceremony of the “Here is the sea we want!” contest, an initiative that involved 20 nursery schools in the province of Perugia. The contest aims to raise awareness among young people about water protection and recycling and reuse practices. All submitted works, which contributed to creating a festive atmosphere with their originality and colours, will receive a prize. The event, organized by the social promotion association Verso in collaboration with Un/Lab and with the patronage of the Municipality of Perugia and the Union of Municipalities of Trasimeno, offers a series of appointments during the day. At 12, there will be a cooking show entitled “The good of ILF: Ittica Martana”, where we will talk about how to marinate whitefish, and a meeting with tastings and culinary demonstration “The queen trout of the river”. Representatives of the Rossi, Tranquilli and Cherubini companies will be present, with the support of Valentina Tepedino, Eurofishmarket veterinarian and author of a blog dedicated to fake news in the fishing world. At 1pm, there will be another double event. On stage 2, the cooking show “The good of ILF: the Trasimeno Fishermen’s Inn” will talk about lake meatballs, while on stage 1 there will be “Inform so as not to bite”, a meeting with Valentina Tepedino. Starting from 5pm, there will be the last meetings with tastings and culinary demonstrations, including “Food and its stories: the ancient wisdom of freshwater cuisine”, an initiative curated by the University of Flavors. During the meeting, the processing and conservation techniques of sea and freshwater fish products throughout history will be presented. Marino Marini, professor of Food History and Culture and traditional Italian Cuisine, and Elena Pianigiani, University events manager, will be present. To close the meeting, a culinary demonstration with chef Catia Ciofo who will present the perch in scapece recipe and offer the tasting experience. At 6pm, Ada Stifani, the chef of the Ada restaurant, will share her vision of the area and will tell how passion, feeling, ability and fun can lead to success. At 6.30pm, the appointment is with “A fish on the street”, where the Wine and Oil Routes of Umbria meet sea and lake restaurants: Strada dei Vini Etrusco Romana. Finally, starting from 7pm, we will dance with Fab May Day, one of the most well-known DJs in Perugia, who will present “Ritmo Odyssey”, a set with disco, afro and highlife rhythms.
