The Ginanni students’ blog for the promotion of the city of Ravenna

The students of the second, fourth and fifth classes of the Tourism course at the Ginanni institute in Ravenna created a blog to promote the city of Ravenna, describing cultural events, theatrical performances, exhibitions, places of culture and art in our city.

The project is called Ravenna Vibes and the students themselves explain the origin «Vibes as vibrations: the vibration of the speaker in a disco, the vibration of sound waves in water, the vibration of the vocal cords in the throat. But, above all, vibration as authentic emotions, vibration as a lifestyle… vibration as the shiver down your spine that assails you when you have a backpack on your shoulder and you can’t wait to embark on your next trip.” An Instagram page (RavennaVibes) was also linked to the blog and reels were published on entertainment venues in the city centre.

The objective is to use new communication channels to promote the city. Therefore, the use of social media served to involve students more in this type of activity, which was also carried out outside of school hours, and was put at the service of promoting the many cultural initiatives carried out in Ravenna.

The coordinator of the project was Professor Daniela Martino, coordinator of the Tourism course: «The project was able to be carried out thanks to the cooperation of the Tourism Department and the support of the school director, Fausta Labidonisia, who promotes and supports every type of activity that allows Ginanni to open up to the territory, establishing collaborations with bodies and associations: which make our institute not only an educational center, but also a place of training for active and aware citizenship. Some colleagues from the Tourism course, professors Luca Maggio and Silvia Tarron, also collaborated on the project: the initiative and motivation of the individual teacher are never enough to complete such a huge commitment, as the collaboration of the group and , in the Tourism course, this synergy is giving life in recent years to educational proposals with a high educational value and very exciting for the children”.

A few days before the end of the school year, the students presented the result to the Municipality’s Tourism Councilor, Giacomo Costantini, who initially held a training lesson with the students, to explain to them what type of effective communication is for promote tourism through social channels.
