Punctual like every Saturday morning, no tickets they showed up in front of the Venezia Santa Lucia station on 8 June to inform tourists and residents about their reasons for opposing the access fee. I wear t-shirts depicting the fish that is the city, above posters with the face of the mayor Luigi Brugnaro in a range of different expressions.

“Don’t worry, it’s just a government-sanctioned robbery.” reads one of the writings under the mayor’s smile.

At the center of the issues brought forward by the no tickets, the privacy factor and management of personal dataan aspect that is also under the lens of the Privacy Guarantor, who in 2022 opened an ad hoc investigation into the ticket, while a second one is now underway involving various fronts, also linked to the smart control room.

«Venice was chosen as a place of experimentation and is at the forefront of achieving a final objective that is now very clear: social control» they explain the Boulè committee and Comit4tounderlining once again that the municipality is not issuing fines to those who have not paid the ticket, “because if these were challenged the stage would fall” they reiterate.

On Saturday 8th morning, Venice woke up to find the information panels on the access ticket positioned in front of the station torn and the writings “no ticket” and “tourists go home” on the fence that delimits the ongoing construction site on part of the access stairway to the station.
