On Thursday 13 June at 9pm the theater under the stars returns to Piazza Varchi, to spend an evening full of fun in the heart of the historic centre. The amateur theater company “N’Icchecinque”, in collaboration with the Municipality of Montevarchi, stages the performance “Marriage with the Dead”, a brilliant comedy in three acts by Antonella Zucchini.

What could be more exciting than preparing for a wedding? But if the bride’s family, made up of rich commoners and full of money, and that of the groom, decadent nobles full of debt, are so different from each other and their expectations are different, if the wedding is set for the day 17, if shady figures wander around the house with entirely different intentions, if sudden clandestine passions arise and if in the end even the dead person escapes, the picture of misfortune appears complete. But will this wedding happen or not? The direction is by Isabella Norti Gualdani and Donatella Nannicini.
I “N’Icche I can”
The amateur theater company N’Icchecinque was founded in 1986 to host a party for the elderly in the parish of Sant’Andrea Corsini in Montevarchi. The name derives from a joke contained in their first comedy in the Florentine vernacular, “L’art.157” by Coppini, in which a character, when asked for availability, replied “n’icche I can”. The joke represented their intent: that of “with commitment, we do what we can”.
Since then, without interruption for over 35 years, a new work has been performed annually, starting from the month of January within the theater festival “Il Mese della Risata” of Sant’ Andrea Corsini, which since 1991 has hosted various amateur theater companies of the Valdarno (and beyond).
The main spirit of the Company is to propose a new brilliant genre comedy every year, to offer the public moments of healthy entertainment for the whole family, in the wake of that Florentine vernacular which makes us rediscover our roots in an irreverent and caricatural way. and those of our territory.
