A sporting and social event that would bring enormous prestige and, thanks to the potential arrival of over five thousand people, would guarantee an important economic impact on the city. Precisely for these reasons, as anticipated in our columns, Pistoia has applied to host Eurogym 2026, a non-competitive gymnastics festival aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years old which will reach its fifteenth edition. The candidacy was illustrated in yesterday morning’s conference at the headquarters of ChiantiBianca, one of the sponsors of the candidacy which will financially support the expenses for the trip to Dublin on June 14th, when Pistoia’s candidacy will be presented to the Technical Commission of the European Gymnastics Federation . The Local Organizing Committee, chaired by the federal technician Alessandra Mazzatosta, who will be present in Ireland next week at the decisive moment of the assignment, together with the Fgi Toscana and the president Fabrizio Lupi, worked tirelessly for the candidacy.
“Hosting Eurogym would be a huge opportunity for Pistoia – admits Mazzatosta -. It is a non-competitive format, in which the boys and girls will perform on various afternoons on stages set up in the main squares of the city. Pistoia will be animated by more than five thousand gymnasts and gymnasts together with their families, coming from over twenty nations”. The councilor for sports promotion Alessandro Sabella was also very satisfied, as he hammered home a key word: collaboration. “To ensure that everything goes as best as possible, the parties involved must cooperate – underlines the councilor -. If Pistoia is lucky enough to host Eurogym it will be able to welcome many people who will bring sport, tourism and youth to us. Our city is logistically excellent , is located near three airports and there are important accommodation facilities in the surrounding area. Just think of how many prominent events are organized in Montecatini. It could be an opportunity to give impetus to Pistoia and show those who visit it the beauty of the whole of Tuscany “.
Important help also comes from bodies such as Csi, Uisp and Coni, which have made their human and economic resources available to allow the best candidacy to be presented. “Even for us at ChiantiBanca it is an opportunity not to be wasted – reports Maurizio Farnesi – as it could represent an enormous showcase for Pistoia.
