CORIGLIANO-ROSSANO- «To all the police forces who in these days and hours are verifying, in all municipal offices, deeds and documents produced by the outgoing municipal administration, to verify procedures and transparency on direct assignments, principle of rotation and possible illicit preference for friendly companies, we express the utmost solidarity for the attacks seriously damaging the dignity and image of the targeted bodies, violent, vulgar, unjust, intolerable and unacceptable attacks that are circulating on Facebook, signed by representatives of lists and movements supporting the outgoing mayor who has vulgarised the entire electoral campaign”. Thus begins the press note from the coalition that supports Pasqualina Straface for the position of mayor of Corigliano-Rossano.
«Obviously, the citizens were only informed of these investigative activities in the municipal offices, which for now are conducted by the Financial Police and the Carabinieri, thanks to an independent journalistic investigation. Because once again, as has happened systematically over the last 5 years, there has been no institutional communication in compliance with the principle of transparency. This means that if we had not read about what happened on some social media, the outgoing Mayor, who is continuing to shout on stages throughout the electoral campaign, would have kept this also hidden from the citizens. Very serious. Here is the freedom and normality of this group and of those who feel inspired by the demagogue and the populist convinced that he can still be an activist by making fun of the city and who instead did not understand that he had been unmasked (as well as the ongoing investigations are starting to demonstrate) with respect to that scientific system of electoral slurs which, in the absence of contents and programmes, in the absence of a five-year report and in the absence of a future vision, he still tries to unload on our candidates in vain”.
According to the centre-right coalition, what Stasis leaves as a legacy is a blocked, isolated, demotivated, disunited and above all indebted city, «with millions of hidden debts, millions of accumulated debts, with millions of euros of unpaid bills, with millions burned for a few hours in concert, with millions and millions of funding either received for the merger and used for something else or, again, with unused millions as in the case, for example, of the 7 million regional ones for the hydrogeological instability of our rivers, which remained stagnant because since 2018 the agreements are not signed or those always transferred from the Calabria Region to the Municipality for the management of social services, another sector that has been destroyed, with the very serious responsibility of having left hundreds of families of Rossano and Corigliano in poverty, in hardship and deprived of any assistance.”
Therefore, no record for Corigliano-Rossano: «The greater number of projects, compared to others of the same size in the South and Calabria, does not equate to merit at all. The data must be read absolutely negatively, because it is the exact opposite of the spirit that must govern the use of the PNRR Funds. These require an organic vision and favor large projects to resolve atavistic structural problems, perhaps linked to the reforms that Italy has committed to making towards Europe. Even according to the simple logic that even a child would follow, the positive fact to highlight is the amount of funding obtained: and so Lamezia Terme, which with 32 projects obtained 143 million euros, has a performance far superior to Corigliano- Rossano which with 81 projects only earns 85.3 million euros. Practically almost half. The stew of interventions, on the clientelistic model of summer programs and the hundreds of thousands of euros dispensed in showers without any strategy and often to friends of friends, responds to a short-term and in some cases clientelistic logic, because it allows for better management of the procurement and the so-called ‘mmasciate’. What’s the point of more projects if you have less funding? Instead of being complacent, it would be better to cover your head with ashes and be ashamed.”
