Nineteen new sports facilities for different disciplines in Crotone

Eight interventions, which become 19 playing fields for multiple disciplines: five 5-a-side football pitches, a 7-a-side football pitch, an 11-a-side football pitch, 4 tennis courts, three basketball courts, a volleyball court, a handball court, an athletics facility (throws: javelin, shot put, discus, vortex) and two bowling greens.

These are the numbers that were presented this morning in the Council Chamber and which mark the start of work on further sports facilities in the city’s neighborhoods.

Presenting the program were Mayor Voce, the councilor for Sports Facilities Luca Bossi, the councilor for Urban Planning Giovanni Greco and the sector manager Clara Caroli.

Municipal officials Manlio Caiazza and Mariano Di Pino were present.

“There are no Serie A or Serie B neighborhoods just as there are no Serie A or Serie B sports and we believe it is appropriate that every neighborhood can have spaces where it is possible to play sports, spaces dedicated to children, young people, to all those who want dedicate yourself to different sports disciplines. This program is part of the broader activity that has been implemented with the PNRR and which affects the entire city. We have already implemented interventions worth over 33,400,000 euros” said Mayor Voce.

Councilor Greco underlined how the planned interventions are in line with the urban planning tools on which we are working.

Councilor Bossi illustrated in detail the interventions that have a common direction: social inclusion, recovery of abandoned areas, regeneration of neighborhoods and suburbs, services for the community.

All the systems that will be built will be equipped with a photovoltaic system, solar thermal system, video surveillance system, defibrillators, green planting and energy efficiency of lighting.

The interventions in question concern: the (former police) field of the S. Francesco district where the grass surface will be redone, the changing room renovated, the bleachers re-covered, a fence built as well as the creation of a play-recreational area in synthetic grass.

Also in the S. Francesco district in via Nigro, the renovation of the synthetic grass surface of the existing structure is planned, the changing room will be built, a fence will be built and play and fitness areas will be created.

The bowling alley in the S. Francesco district, in via Nigro, will be equipped with a photovoltaic system, the room will be repaved, a bathroom will be built for people with different abilities and the toilets will be redone.

The “Geodetics” of the Tufolo neighborhood will have new life with the installation of the new sheet with the city logo, the markings on the renovated flooring which will allow you to play basketball, tennis, handball and football, the changing room created and the old one replaced surrounding wall, an illuminated hedge will be built which will give continuity to the “Sport citadel” which is being completed in the area.

At the Venere subdivision, a playground field for basketball and volleyball, a changing room, a new electrical system, a green area, an equipped play area and a technogoal arena will be built.

The Bernabò sports facility was also redeveloped with the creation of a 7-a-side football pitch in synthetic grass, a multi-purpose field for tennis and 5-a-side football, a changing room, new fences and an equipped play area.

In Papanice, an 11-a-side clay football pitch, a 5-a-side synthetic grass football pitch, a changing room, a throwing area for athletics, new fences and new lighting will be built.

And again in Papanice the bowling alley will be redeveloped with a photovoltaic system and solar collector, the overhaul of the electrical system and energy efficiency with LED projectors.
