The president of the regional union, Sandro Bennucci: «The Ministry of the Interior shines a light on the risky work of journalists in the city».
The Tuscan Press Association and the Council of the Order of Journalists of Tuscany, very concerned, express full solidarity with their colleague Jacopo Storni, who was attacked and threatened while trying to document some drug dealing situations in the Cascine park in Florence.
«A worrying episode – comments the president of Odg Toscana, Giampaolo Marchini – and must make it clear that the Cascine Park has become unlivable for everyone, including the reporters tasked with documenting a situation of degradation that affects the entire community. Today more than ever it is necessary to strongly reiterate the support for all colleagues whose work is hindered, we hope that these very serious episodes will not be repeated, hoping that the police will identify and bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible” .
Sandro Bennucci, president of the Tuscan Press Association, also on behalf of all the leading bodies of the journalists’ union, expresses «full support, if necessary also legal, for Jacopo Storni and asks the Ministry of the Interior, the prefect and police commissioner, to shine a light on the risky work of journalists in Florence. Where, not surprisingly, the one in Storni is the third attack on journalists recorded in less than a week.” (Adnkronos, 7 June 2024)
