This year too, the Salerno Local Health Authority renews its commitment to promoting the culture of prevention by launching the 2024 campaign, which will take place under the slogan “EMBRACE PREVENTION“, proposing the traveling tour which will visit the centers of the province of Salerno with the aim of encouraging participation in free oncological screenings.
The tour “EMBRACE PREVENTION” will start next Monday 10 June from Mercato San Severino, Piazza Sabatino Califano, and will end on 3 July 2024 in Salerno, in Piazza della Concordia, according to the following calendar:
- 10 and 11 June 2024 San Severino Market – Piazza Sabatino Califano
- 12 June 2024 Positano – Piazza dei Racconti
- 13 June 2024 Minori – Piazzale Marinai D’Italia
- 14 and 17 June Sarno – Piazza V Maggio
- 18 and 19 June 2024 Eboli – Piazza della Repubblica
- 20 and 21 June 2024 Polla – Piazza Cristo Re
- 24 and 25 June 2024 Camerota – Kamaraton Theater (Parking Area)
- 26 and 27 June 2024 Capaccio – Piazza Santini
- 1 – 2 and 3 July 2024 Salerno – 1 Rione Zevi 2-3 Piazza della Concordia
On these dates the ASL truck will stop for the whole day – from 9.00 to 18.00 – to allow citizens to carry out a free pap test, mammogram and receive the colorectal kit which they can return directly on board the truck or in the following days, in the places that will be indicated.
It will also be an opportunity for citizens of different age groups to meet the operators of the Salerno Local Health Authority and receive any useful information to simplify the access routes to screening services.
Three types of cancer screening are available free of charge:
- cancer of breast: mammography for target women (between 50 and 69 years old);
- cancer of cervix uterine: Pap test performed by specially dedicated midwives (target: women between 25 and 64 years of age);
- cancer of colon rectum: distribution of kits for detecting occult blood in feces to target patients. All the methods for returning the aforementioned kits will be explained to them (target: men and women aged between 50 and 74).

The strategic management of the ASL and the representatives of oncological screening they will be at Mercato San Severino on Monday 10th, at 11.00, to present the initiative, illustrate its objectives and make the stages of the journey known.
