MAP Festival: Alessandro Baricco arrives

Meeting with the writer, music critic and screenwriter Alessandro Baricco Saturday, June 8, at 8.30 pm (7.45 pm, open to the public), at Parco Cimino (Taranto): the long-awaited appointment – included in the rich program of the 2024 edition of the MAP Festivalthe review of Music, Architecture and Parallelisms artistically directed by Gloria Campaner And Piero Romano – will be conducted by the journalist, Oscar Iarussi.

The event, we remember, can also be followed through the Metaverse, one of the interesting offers promoted in this fourth edition of the Festival.

Alessandro Baricco

Among the most versatile contemporary writers in Italy and among the most loved in the world, Baricco he is known for his bestselling novels “Castelli di rage” (Premio Selezione Campiello and Prix Médicis Étranger in 1991), “Oceano Mare” (Premio Viareggio in 1993) and “Seta” (1996, translated into 16 languages). His activity is also prolific as a host of cultural television programs, but also as a playwright and essayist. His fourth essay “I Barbarians” (2006) addressed the relationship between writing and the digital cultural revolution.

In his latest essay “The Game” (2018), Baricco returned to this theme, broadening his reflection to the impact of the digital revolution on humanistic thought and culture in general. The book represents the intellectual preface to the principles that the writer applied to the Academy program of the Holden School he founded in 1994 in Turin. “Abel” was released in 2023, his latest novel published by Feltrinelli.
