The assignment of the first tranche of funding to the Unions of Municipalities and Municipalities for the implementation of the forestry delegation through projects carried out with forestry workers has been decided.
Overall, this amounts to over 6 million and 500 thousand euros which go to cover the expenses of the approximately 400 forestry workers employed by the Unions of Municipalities and the Municipalities.
An important contingent that is dedicated to active fighting activities against forest fires. both to forestation and maintenance activities of the works of the agricultural forestry heritage, which represents approximately 10% of the entire Tuscan forestry heritage with the presence of hundreds of kilometers of forest roads and several dozen structures.
The President of the Region has reconfirmed that with the next budget change he will reinstate the resources initially cut so as to ensure the full operation of the forestry workers employed by the entities.
The vice president and councilor for agriculture underlined how the valorisation of a forest territory extremely rich in natural and environmental emergencies, such as the Tuscan one, must necessarily pass from correct management, attentive to the defense of the territory and to an ever greater resilience to changes climate, but also capable of creating economic and employment opportunities.
At the same time as approving the funding, the Regional Council also approved the resources for the tender to support the establishment of forestry associations through the ministerial funds of the 2023 Forestry Fund. The tender, which will be published shortly, will support the creation and strengthening of associations between forest owners for the sustainable forest management of wooded areas.
The establishment of associative forms aims in particular to overcome the main problem of the Tuscan forests characterized by an extreme fragmentation of properties.
