The first weekend is coming with initiatives for June in Pisa which are intertwined with two other artistic events, the Pisa Art Week and the third edition of ‘Giorni di Tuono’, and with a walk at high altitude to discover the urban flora . A snack in the olive grove will be ideal for spending a day among nature walks, guided activities and tastings, while in Montecatini Val di Cecina everything is ready to experience three days of celebration in the name of the coppersmiths’ tradition, including historical re-enactments and visits to the mine.

San Zeno multipurpose center celebrating with associations
On Saturday 8 June in the large green space that connects via San Zeno to viale del Brennero, the San Zeno Multipurpose Center of Pisa is organizing, together with various Pisan associations, an afternoon of celebration with fun for everyone, children, adults and the elderly who will also be able to get to know the activities proposed by the associations during the year and enjoy a snack in company.
Basketball tournament of the historic districts in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II
On Saturday 8 June in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II the Italian Basketball Federation and the Municipality of Pisa are organizing the basketball tournament in the historic districts of Pisa, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the IES Pisa company. The teams of participating children and teenagers will play in three-on-three mode divided into the four colors of the historic city districts.

The exhibition ‘Renzo Galardini. June in Pisa’, curated by Alessandro Tosi, a way to start breathing the air of historical traditions with the exhibition of works linked to the city of Pisa, its history and its most evocative events. The two original posters created by the maestro for the anniversary of the Pisan New Year and the Gioco del Ponte will also be visible.
From Friday 7th to Sunday 9th June the event returns, offering artistic exhibitions spread throughout the historic center of Pisa. The fulcrum of the event will be the Republican Arsenals where you can see works of classical art expressed in the vision of four artists throughout the weekend. Saturday afternoon in Corte San Domenico live performance and exhibition of the collective project ‘Private Property’; On Sunday afternoon in the central Ars Cafè you can try your hand at live painting during the aperitif hour.
A morning of walking at high altitude on the Walls of Pisa with the last ‘Mura Botaniche’ event scheduled for Saturday 8 June. During the guided tour, participants will learn about the urban flora: from the caper flowers, typical of the city walls, to the plants that grow nearby. The first part of the visit will end in Piazza dei Miracoli, after which it will continue in the Botanical Garden where plants from the five continents are housed.
Third edition of the comics, music and cinema festival with many guests and free entry events that will fill the whole weekend with the memory of the cartoonist Tuono Pettinato. Among the prominent names in the city during the three-day event were Bruno Bozzetto, Adriano Carnevali, Mario Natangelo, Davide Toffolo and Silvia Ziche. Thematic panels, shows, film marathons and various exhibitions, such as the one at the Graphics Museum which will display the drawings of ‘Nevermind’, Tuono Pettinato’s masterpiece dedicated to Kurt Cobain, or ‘Storia humid’ at the Concept River gallery are some of the ways with which to immerse yourself in a journey into the world of comics illustration, sharing the passion and retracing the steps of the beloved Pisan artist.
Life in the open air with the panorama of the nature of the olive groves of Monte Pisano: the free event promoted by Città dell’Olio and the Municipality of Calci returns with activities conducted by representatives of local bodies and associations, agronomy and olive growing experts, as well as Mental Wellness professionals. A complete experience of psycho-physical well-being deriving from contact with nature with a packed lunch and tasting of bread and extra virgin olive oil.
Copper craft markets, thematic exhibitions, open-air lunches and dinners and visits to the Mining Park: an event to be experienced and discovered that of the Coppersmiths’ Festival in Montecatini Val di Cecina, which opens on Friday and which offers many activities until Sunday evening. Between popular songs and dances and workshops and games, the party is for the whole family and is unmissable for fans of historical re-enactments.
