Investigations, launched immediately after the attempted murder which occurred on 25 April in Vittoria and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catania

The State Police carried out three arrests issued by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catania for “attempted aggravated murder and mafia association”. The measures, issued in recent days, were adopted as the suspects were charged, in conjunction with each other, with the crimes of attempted murder against a former justice collaborator and mafia-style criminal association.
The investigations, started immediately after the attempted murder which occurred on 25 April in Vittoria and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catania, have made it possible to hypothesize the responsibility of the people arrested in the commission of the ambush, as well as the existence of a dangerous armed criminal organization of a mafia nature, attributable to the “Stidda Vittoria”.
The investigation activity, corroborated by technical interceptions and traditional judicial police services, made it possible to believe that within the criminal association there was the objective of physically eliminating a list of people who collaborated with justice and who are present in Vittoria. This was for revenge purposes and to consolidate the exclusive control of the criminal organization’s illicit affairs over Vittoria and the entire province of Ragusa.
The investigations also shed light on the availability of a considerable number of weapons, including war weapons, and on the possible use by affiliates of the mafia clan to carry out the organization’s criminal plan and to acquire control of economic activities. citizens through extortion against numerous entrepreneurs and traders.
