The second round of the Mini Challenge season smiled on the 23-year-old Andrea Bristot from Belluno, who managed to extend his championship lead with a perfect weekend. Fresh from a victory and a second place obtained in the opening round in Misano, Bristot inaugurated the weekend in Imola with a double pole position in the two scheduled qualifying rounds. Not even the rain that fell shortly before the start of Q1 managed to slow down his progress, with the representative of the Della Pia Engineering team managing to win by 298 thousandths.
In the second round, with the track now dry which allowed everyone to mount slick tyres, Bristot managed to increase the gap to the first of his pursuers to a good 1″547. In the two scheduled heats the driver from Belluno had no rivals, never giving up first position to take two clear victories, also sealed by the fastest lap signed in both races. In this way Bristot managed to secure full points, increasing his advantage to 16 points over the first of his pursuers. The next appointment is scheduled in Vallelunga on the weekend of June 16th.
