Then, after a legislature, he returned to his homeland of choice, Versilia. But now Gianluca Ferrara is trying again. And the Movement’s internal click days indicated him in third place on the list in the central Italian constituency.
Why are you running?
“I have been studying international politics for several years and last term I was group leader in the Foreign Affairs Commission, member of the OSCE and of the Council of Europe. The situation is dramatic and with a spirit of service I make my experience and skills available” .
A battle for central Italy to bring to Europe?
“Meloni had said that “the fun is over”, in the meantime he voted for the stability pact which means cuts to public spending of 13 billion euros a year. Cuts to healthcare which is already collapsing, to transport, to education. The reality is that austerity is back and citizens are suffering more and more with mortgages and petrol skyrocketing. Meloni is strong with the weak and weak with the strong powers, why hasn’t he taxed the 28 billion of the banks’ extra profits? “.
In your opinion, are we at a crossroads with history?
“Yes, the US-led unipolar geopolitical order established in the aftermath of the fall of the Berlin Wall is destined for a showdown with those countries like China and Russia that want a multipolar system. When a geopolitical scheme is called into question the History teaches us that the answer is war. We need to overturn this pattern and build a Europe that is a strong and independent political entity that advances peace and the energy transition.”
Why should a voter vote for the 5 Star Movement?
“Because we really serve the citizens’ interests. With President Conte in 2020 we have already demonstrated that it is possible to have a Europe of solidarity by bringing 209 billion euros to Italy. Instead of submitting to orders, we need to have courage and bang our fists on international tables and assert the interests of Italians”.
