Grosseto, 7 June 2024 – At least for now they can be installed in much of Tuscany wind turbines and photovoltaic panels, subject to evaluation by the Region but in the future this may no longer be the case. The new government decree it would make the installation of wind turbines and photovoltaic panels in Tuscany almost impossible. The draft document was sent by the Ministry of the Environment to the Regions and establishes a rule, beyond the constraints that the regions will set to define the areas not suitable for these types of plants. However, there is this rule from which we start. All those within the assets bound by the Landscape Code, including woods, are considered unsuitable areas. With respect to this constraint, photovoltaic can be installed 500 meters away from wind power 3 kilometers away. In Tuscany there is no ridge more than three kilometers away from the forest. Therefore, zero opportunities to put in new shovels, a few crumbs for the photovoltaic system.
There is still talk of the draft but in Maremma the mayors of the municipalities involved are breathing a sigh of relief. The mayor of Manciano, Mirco Morini is fighting two wind farm projects, for a total of 16 blades 200 meters high each. On the project which should be located in the Montauto area, the Regional Council found: “Weaknesses and critical issues in the design which do not allow the expression of a conclusive regional opinion on the Landscape and Vegetation, Flora, Fauna and Biodiversity components”. The Region once again suggests that the Ministry ask for further information. “No to wind power here – comments Morini – I have always supported it. Maremma is a land that is appreciated for its landscape and environment”. Even in Pitigliano the topic of wind power is current. “Let’s wait to understand better – says the mayor Giovanni Gentili – but if this were the government’s direction it would be a godsend for us, because it would put a brake on the wind projects presented in our territory and those nearby”.
