The computer network of‘Asst Rhodense suffered a heavy cyber attack which involved all the offices (hospital facilities of Garbagnate Milanese, Bollate, Rho and Passirana and territorial services of the Garbagnatese, Rhodense and Corsichese district areas). The Management – the Company says – in concert with the technicians, is working to verify the situation while guaranteeing essential services. The ASST has organized a user reception service in each facility, in order to inform them and take care of any requests. The provision of already scheduled outpatient services is guaranteed, except those of nuclear medicine, for example MOC, radiology (CT scan, MRIs, X-rays and mammograms) and laboratory analysis (including blood tests). The activities relating to non-urgent surgical interventions and those of booking at the CUP, scheduled hospitalization and sampling points are suspended – adds the ASST Rhodense (TAO patients can contact the reception of the Hospitals of Bollate, Garbagnate and Rho for information on how to carry out the tests necessary for managing the therapy). The Garbagnate and Rho emergency rooms remain active (only the dispatch of ambulances has been suspended) but, in cases of urgency, citizens are advised to contact other structures”

“It is currently not possible to estimate recovery times of the company network and everyone’s collaboration is requested, especially in these first moments of reorganization of activities. The Lombardy Region involved Aria technicians who intervened on site this morning and activated the Regional Cyber Security Task Force. The National Cybersecurity Agency was also informed and is sending its specialists. Analysis activities are underway to understand the ways in which the attack took place, verify the availability of ‘clean’ backups and the situation of all the individual systems and prepare a recovery plan for data, services and applications.
The controversy
“It’s been years and more IT security problems have not been resolved of Lombardy healthcare. We have repeatedly asked for a control room and an increase in resources and attention on this issue. We ask for a hearing in the Budget Committee as soon as possible to obtain information on what happened at Asst Rhodense and on what projects the regional council has implemented to stem cyber attacks. We are worried, the sensitive data assets of the Lombards cannot be put at the mercy of international criminals”. This was declared by the regional councilor of the Democratic Party Pietro Bussolati.
