Prato, 7 June 2024 – He attempted to cross viale della Repubblica, at via Piero della Francesca, in a point where there are no pedestrian crossings. The impact was extremely violent: the victim, a 48-year-old Pakistani, flew through the air and then landed violently on the asphalt. The investment it was captured by a security camera in the area. The shocking video, which has been circulating on social networks for two days, was acquired by the municipal police who are following the investigations. The Pakistani was taken to Boxing Day under code red and underwent delicate surgery. His condition is very serious and he is still on a guarded prognosis. At first his condition gave rise to hope as he remained conscious until the rescuers arrived.
The municipal police intervened in Viale della Repubblica for the findings of the accident and to listen to witnesses. The video from the cameras was then traced in which the moment of the terrible impact can be clearly seen. The driver, a 20-year-old from Prato, was investigated for serious injuries as required.
According to what emerged from the video images, the Pakistani man can be seen coming from the gardens and attempting to cross the road at a point where there are no pedestrian crossings. He manages to pass the first lane: the car in fact slow down to let him pass. But when he passes into the second lane, the one in the center of the road towards the Police Headquarters roundabout, a white Mini is seen coming and mows him down cleanly. The man first bounces off the hood of the car and then flies forward several meters. The car, with the twenty-year-old driving, stops immediately to provide assistance to the struck pedestrian.
Now it will be necessary to understand at what speed the young woman was traveling, even if it is established that the Pakistani was not on the pedestrian crossing.
