In Turin it ended 4-4, so on Saturday it will be like playing a return match with no appeal, in which it will be like starting again from the initial 0-0. The difference will be given by the advantage of the field factor and Quartu will have to try in every way to exploit it. But how do Mr. Massimino Diana interpret these conditions that accompany his team in game 2 against Sermig?

“In the first leg – he recalls – it was a tough match, played against a very organized team, with the result demonstrating that the match was very balanced. On Saturday we have the advantage of being able to play it in front of our fans, but I want to remind you that Sermig is an expert team: we should play a very careful match to bring home the result.”

– In the first leg, however, you were winning 4-2 before coming back from behind: Quartu’s demerits for not being able to manage the double advantage or Sermig’s merits for believing in the recovery?

“We did well to recover the deficit twice and then take the lead 4-2, when we had a 20-second blackout during which we suffered their comeback. Of course, with a little more attention we could have managed the advantage better, but as I said before, Sermig is a really very organized team: they were good at hurting us.”

– Going back to the first question, a match of such great importance, in which you play an entire season, how should you prepare mentally and then approach and play on the pitch? What attitude did you ask your players to see in the most important 40′ in Quartu’s history?

“We worked a lot both from a mental and tactical point of view, so as not to repeat the mistakes of the first match. However, I believe that in games like these, where you really play a season, the stimuli come by themselves. I asked the boys to pay close attention because I think that in the end whoever makes the fewest mistakes will prevail.”

For Diana, the unknown remains as to the possibility of using Cau, who after the blow taken in the return match of the semi-final against Rho never regained his place in the Cagliari rotations. The coach hopes to recover him at the last minute for the decisive match in Elmas.
