With the new 2026 single-seaters, DRS abolished, more electric power

What will the 2026 single-seaters be like when the new technical regulations come into force? What are the ten teams involved in the World Cup already working on? The FIA today released the rendering of the project, a first idea of what the F1 of the future will be. Not just frames, obviously. As announced several times, the engines will also change.

The cars will be 30 kilos lighter than the current ones, which weigh 768 kg on the scales, and will also be 200 mm narrower in wheelbase and 100 mm less wide. Ground effect remains, but reduced by 30 percent. The big news concerns the possibility for pilots to modify the aerodynamics directly from the cockpit.

With Z mode, more downforce will be activated, X mode less downforce. The rolling resistance will be reduced by half of the current one. The bottoms will be flatter. The front wings are narrowed by 100 millimetres. The wheels will always be 18 inches, but the size decreases by 25 millimeters for the front ones and 30 millimeters for the rear ones.

The engines are more powerful, an estimated 300 percent, thanks to the electronic components. Fuels will be sustainable. DRS will finally be abolished, to facilitate overtaking, it will be possible for pilots, above 290 per hour, to receive greater electric power. This is for those who are chasing, while those in front will find themselves with less electrical power above 290 km/h. This aspect will certainly be worth evaluating.
