Bitonto Cortili Aperti, the 720 student guides of the tenth edition awarded – BitontoLive.it

A joyful and festive moment during the ceremony of awarding certificates to the 720 students of the city’s middle and high schools, as well as of the architecture department for having acted as a guide to thousands of visitors on the occasion of the tenth edition of “Bitonto Cortili Aperti” on 18 and last May 19th. In the splendid setting of the Traetta theatre, the “sentinels of beauty” received the deserved recognition for having carried out their task and the precious welcome service with great enthusiasm, ability and commitment, also showing an extraordinary sense of belonging to the territory.

Present at the ceremony were the mayor Francesco Paolo Ricci, the councilor for public education, Christian Farella, professor Lucia Achille, organizer of the event and the notary Piero Consiglio, president of the Adsi (Association of Italian historic homes) of Puglia.

The students trained by their teachers took on the role of “new guides” providing visitors and tourists with news and historical notes, sometimes in a foreign language, on monuments, historic homes and courtyards.

«Our greatest satisfaction is seeing the growing interest of young people in the conservation and enhancement of historic homes – he declared Piero Consigliopresident of Adsi Puglia – We continue to carry out our cultural and social commitment to leave to future generations this precious legacy made up of ancient monuments and buildings, the legacy of a noble historical past.”

It was truly a day of celebration, in particular for the students who told their testimonies about the experience they had during “Bitonto Cortili Aperti”. «This year too, the synergy created between the Municipality, the association, private individuals, the staff and the schools has borne positive results in terms of participation, contributing to enhancing the image of our city – stated the organizer Lucia Achille – I would like to highlight the enthusiasm of the young people who acted as guides during the event and who testified on the stage of the theater to their desire to continue to be the sentinels of beauty. The collaborative participation of the owners of the buildings who lent a hand during the organization was fundamental to the success of the two days. Bitonto Cortili Aperti is increasingly becoming a choral and collective event.”

Enthusiastic mayor Francesco Paolo Ricci who remarked how «“Bitonto Cortili Aperti” represents a great opportunity for the development of the city and the territory. I thank the historic residences association of Puglia, those who organized the event with dedication, but above all my applause goes to the students who once again demonstrated their great attachment to the city, thus expressing love, passion and sensitivity to become protagonists of every corner of our Bitonto. Young people represent the future of this community – he added – so it is important that there is continuity in this socio-cultural path by fueling their collaboration and their presence with the associations present in the area. The Municipality will do everything possible, as it is already doing, to guarantee its financial support for projects and initiatives capable of enhancing the artistic and cultural heritage of Bitonto”.

In this regard, it must be said that the “sentinels of beauty” will be able to continue to be linked to the project even before and after the “Open Courtyards” event, on a voluntary basis, giving their availability and sending an email to: sentinelledellabellezza24@gmail .com

Another more opportunity for Bitonto and his boys to grow together.
