Moments of tension this morning, Thursday 6 June 2024, in the center of Verona. Long via Catullo Has been reported a truck that was blocking traffic. They intervened on the spot to fine him, but the driver, as soon as he saw the Local Police, attacked the officers. In all they were contested against him six minutesbut subsequent investigations revealed that in recent months the driver of the truck had accumulated 47 violations of the ZTL which were never paid.

Serious episode this morning, Thursday 6 June 2024, in Verona with an attack on a local police patrol by a haulier. It all started when a truckused for the transport of bedding for some tourist locations in the restricted traffic zone, has been abandoned prohibited from parking, blocking traffic.
A patrol from the Territorial Department, already in the area to monitor prohibited parking in Corte Melone, intervened to contest the violation. At the control the lorry driver, a 57 years oldreacted violently pushing an officer, directing insults at those present and creating strong tension. The intervention of reinforcements from the power station was thus requested.
Six reports, then the discovery of other fines
The 57-year-old will be reported for resisting and insulting a public official and interrupting a public service by having prevented the transit of some taxis along via Catullo.
The company vehicle, which had a chip on the windshield, will be sent for inspection. Overall the officers challenged the driver six minutes:
- unauthorized transit in restricted traffic zones,
- parking with obstruction to traffic,
- use of cell phone while driving,
- failure to use seat belts,
- non-compliant headlights,
- unsuitable windshield.
The checks also revealed that the van has accumulated 47 violations of the ZTL in recent months, never paid.
The checks will now also be extended to the company for which the driver works and to the contracts in place with various tourist locations in the city, to verify any further irregularities.
