In recent months, the Committee for public order and security, together with the Police Force, has conducted various extraordinary services for the prevention and control of the territory in the province of Trapani. In the month of May 2024 alone, the police forces carried out 47 extraordinary services, mainly concentrated in the historic center of Trapani and in the municipalities of Alcamo, Castellammare del Golfo, Erice, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo and Salemi.
During this period, over 5,500 checks were carried out on individuals subject to judicial obligations, with 43 reports to the Prefecture for personal use of narcotic substances. Important numbers also for the Drug Addiction Operations Unit which held 25 interviews and served 24 summons, issuing sanctions and formal invitations.
As regards violations of the Highway Code, more than 500 infringements were detected, including speeding, driving while intoxicated, lack of insurance, use of devices while driving, failure to wear a helmet and seat belts, without inspection and road accidents.
Furthermore, remaining on the subject of violations of the Highway Code, several administrative seizures of vehicles were carried out, in particular for driving while intoxicated and lack of insurance.
The Driving License Office issued 47 suspension orders, including cases of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Finally, in the labor sector, the Carabinieri Command for Labor Protection inspected various companies, finding irregularities in 9 of them, with 5 referrals to the Judicial Authority regarding hygiene and safety at work.
