Carrarese narrow draw in Vicenza (0-0) but deserved more.

The historic Romeo Menti Stadium, which in the past has seen many Serie A battles and matches with the passage of many champions, was the scene of the race seen all over the world for the promotion to Serie B between Vicenza and Carrarese. Even though it has now been retouched, logically, modernized but the structure has remained the same. Sold out with 12,000 spectators of which 1,200 came from Carrara despite the match being broadcast live on Rai Sport, Sky and Rai Internazionale.

The match. It ended in a draw but in the first half it was almost dominated by the Azzurri who only had the mistake of not scoring, then a balanced second half. The fear of compromising everything took over. The Italian team started strong, finishing after 30 seconds with Cicconi making a save. Then Carrarese continues to grind out the game, attacks, is more maneuverable and also seems fresher. For over half an hour Vicenza did not leave their half of the pitch and the Azzurri went on to finish again in the 10th minute with Zuelli and the goalkeeper deflected it for a corner. The match, however, begins to decline in tone, the tiredness of the season also begins to take its toll and in any case in the end there is a draw. Two more chances, one for each side in the final, but the result remained tied at zero-nil. Perhaps after the sparkling half hour for the Azzurri the importance of the result took over and both teams began to pay attention first of all not to losing and so it happened. Now everything has been postponed until next Sunday at the Dei Marmi stadium starting at 5.30 pm and here no more tactics are needed, there will be no appeal tests. One will have to come out with the pass for B. And if the match ends in a draw even after extra time, promotion will be contested on penalties. In short, on Sunday both teams will play everything.

Manuel Arena of Torre del Greco refereed and for him the passage to Serie B and therefore A is guaranteed with these matches. Vicenza or Carrarese will find him again next season among the cadets.
