Two doctors were attacked at the “G. Tatarella” of Cerignola, in an episode that occurred for apparently trivial reasons, based on a misunderstanding. The incident occurred a few days ago in the doctors’ room of the Internal Medicine department of the hospital, when a man and a woman approached carrying a smartphone and showing a doctor on duty some photos of an elderly relative of theirs, who had just resigned.
Through the photographs, the two accused the doctor of having caused a tumor in their relative, despite the doctor’s attempts to explain that it was a bedsore, a common complication in patients confined to bed for long periods. The man, in particular, lost control, violently threatening both the doctor and one of his colleagues who intervened from Barletta, and a nurse who joined the scene. The threats turned into physical actions, with violent pulling and pushing against a wall. Only after some time and the joint intervention of the three, with explanations and clarifications, did the attacker’s fury subside. “If you call anyone, I will kill you. I’ll run you over with the car,” he allegedly threatened.
The misadventure ended this time, as a regular complaint was filed following personal injuries and threats.
