The funeral in the Collegiate Church of Santa Sofia in Giugliano in Campania at 3.30 pm today. The daughter hosted and honored by Filca Cisl.
The funeral will be held today, June 6, at 3.30 pm Antonio Russo, the 63-year-old construction worker who died in an accident at work on May 22nd, on the Line 1 metro construction site in Capodichino. The accident, caused, it seems from initial reconstructions, by the derailment of a transport trolley, on which three workers were travelling, occurred inside the tunnel connecting Capodichino and Poggioreale, a construction site managed under subcontracting by the company Synergyon behalf of Naples Metroconcessionaire for the works of the Line 1 metro station. Russo’s funeral will take place today in Collegiate Church of Santa Sofia of Giugliano in Campaniain the province of Naples.
Russo, an affectionate father and grandfather, was an expert worker. A life dedicated to work, he would have retired in September. Two other colleagues aged 59 and 54 were also injured in the accident and are now better. Yesterday, Antonio’s daughter was a guest of the Filca Cisl, the builders’ union, in a meeting with the national general secretary Enzo Pelle and Massimo Sannino, head of Filca Napoli. The union wanted to pay tribute to her for the terrible loss.
After the accident at construction site of the Capodichino metro which cost the life of the worker Antonio Russo and the wounding of two of his other colleagues, the Prosecutor’s Office seized the tunnel connecting Capodichino and Poggioreale, the mechanical mole and the transport cart. In both cases there are two locomotives. The first used to dig the tunnel, currently being dismantled, the second, however, is the train used by the workers to move inside the tunnel. It was not affected by the judiciary’s provision, however, the construction site of the Line 1 metro stationwhere, therefore, work can continue regularly.
