what awaits us according to Arpa

It will be a hot and mostly dry summer that has just begun (meteorological summer in fact begins at the beginning of June) in Piedmont, and in the Novara area and Vco.

This was revealed in the latest Arpa report, which takes stock of the forecasts for the summer months in our region.

“Instable conditions are still expected for June, the first month of summer 2024 – Arpa explains -. The months of July and August are instead expected to be hot and dry due to the presence of an anticyclonic area over Western Europe which could hinder the entry of Atlantic disturbances onto the Mediterranean basin and therefore onto Piedmont”.

According to Arpa, “the forecast for this summer announcesno a season that is predominantly warmer than average across much of Europe, even if the different models analyzed do not agree on the location of the areas most affected by the anomaly positive. In Piedmont, the month of June seems to be characterized by temperatures slightly above average, still affected, albeit marginally, by the cooler air coming from beyond the Alps. The trends for July and August, however, show monthly temperatures above the norm for the period, thus suggesting the arrival of significant heat waves”.

For Arpa, the summer that has just begun will also be drier than normal: “While June is characterized by rainfall still slightly above average – we read in the report – due to the extension of the long unstable phase of May, at least for the first part of the month, a progressive reduction in precipitation is expected for July and August, with values below normal. Overall, therefore, the progressive conditions of atmospheric stability determine a hot and dry summer”.
