Jorge Martin’s surprise move: he abandons his Ducati dream to move to Aprilia, but Pramac maintains full support for this season.

Jorge Martín will conclude his tenure with Pramac Racing at the end of the 2024 MotoGP season. Initially favored to secure second place at the Ducati factory, Martín’s prospects have darkened following Marc Márquez’s alleged pressure tactics and potential departure from Ducati. Eventually, Ducati rethought the situation, leading Martín to sign a multi-year contract with Aprilia, replacing Aleix Espargaró.

After joining Pramac in 2021, Martín quickly made his mark with a pole position and podiums, followed by his first victory in Austria in 2022. Despite his successes, Ducati chose Enea Bastianini for their factory team. Martín bounced back in 2023, challenging for the championship and finishing second behind Pecco Bagnaia. In 2024, he continued his extraordinary form, leading the championship with several victories and podiums.

Upon the announcement of his move to Aprilia, Pramac Racing expressed their support for Martín until the end of the season. Team owner Paolo Campinoti and Team Manager Gino Borsoi praised Martín’s talent and contributions, promising to fight for the world championship together.

Paolo Campinoti: “We welcomed a promising rookie to our team, and today we are working with one of the strongest riders in MotoGP. The progress we have made together is incredible. After the Valencia GP, we will say goodbye to Martín, wishing him the best for his future.”

Gino Borsoi: “I am grateful and proud to work with Jorge, one of the most talented drivers I have known. We will continue to give our all to achieve the best together, focusing on this fantastic season. I hope Jorge can enjoy the rest of the season with us now that his future is decided.”
