Reggio Emilia – The scholarship in memory of Olmes Ognibene for the academic year 2023-2024 was awarded in recent days. Worth 5,000 euros, this scholarship is dedicated to female students in STEM subjects and this year it was awarded to Chiara Rita Piedmontese. The award ceremony took place during the Career Day of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
Chiara Rita Piemontese, the winner, is a first-year student of the Master’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, with an excellent academic curriculum.
The scholarship announcement was published in 2023, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the founder Olmes Ognibene. This grant represents the final stage of a series of celebratory initiatives for the first 70 years of company history.
On 10 May 1953, Olmes Ognibene signed the business register of the Reggio Emilia Chamber of Commerce and started his business in the small “Officina Meccanica Ognibene Olmes” in Fosdondo di Correggio (RE).
Seventy years later, Ognibene’s business idea has grown to become the Ognibene group, a family-run multinational that ranks among the world’s leading players in the production of hydraulic and mechatronic steering systems. These systems equip important original manufacturers (OEMs) in the agricultural, material handling, construction and suspension systems sectors for luxury sports cars, representing the renowned Emilian Motor Valley.
“My father believed a lot in young people and especially in women and their potential” – declared Cristina Ognibene, Vice President of the Ognibene group, during the scholarship award ceremony.
Among the spectators present at the ceremony were Chiara Rita Piemontese’s family and part of the Ognibene team, who had participated in the Career Day in the morning.
