The television ratings data for last night’s match, broadcast free-to-air on Rai Sport, are the litmus test of the interest that the world of Italian basketball is directing towards this challenge. LNP has indeed announced that an average of 98,999 viewers followed the match. A number that eclipsed the previous seasonal record: just over 70,000 for the Lombard derby between Treviglio and Urania Milano. The share was 0.52%, also a seasonal record for Serie A2.
Even more impressive numbers if you look at the second half of the match: 115,484 average viewers with a peak of 179,083 in the last 5′ of the race. Audiences of this kind are often not achieved even with Serie A: for example, last December, for the big match between Milan and Virtus Bologna live free-to-air on NOVE, there were an average of 130,000 spectators.
