Rome, 4 June. “The digitalisation of public administration is a path that is not limited to the simple introduction of new technologies, but which is rooted in the very fabric of our community. Given that Taranto is among the Italian cities that is most effectively using the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, I want to underline how these funds have provided our administrative machinery with an unprecedented opportunity to renew and improve the services we offer”. This was stated by the mayor of Taranto Rinaldo Melucci when speaking about the opportunity seized by the municipality for digitalisation and the “Taranto Ecosystem” plan based on the process of urban, social, environmental, cultural and economic regeneration.

“Thanks to the Pnrr funds, we have undertaken an in-depth analysis of our internal processes, with the aim of redesigning them not only to digitize them, but to make them truly functional to the needs of the people of Taranto – he underlines – This is not just a technological achievement, but a real cultural revolution within our administration. We have overcome resistance to innovation and embraced a new approach to simplify the lives of our community, knowing that each new software or procedure is not a technological whim, but a tool to simplify the lives of all of us. True transformation happens when we abandon the comfort zone of ‘it’s always been done this way’ to embrace new ways of providing services.”

Indeed, it is a fundamental tool to make our services more accessible, efficient and in line with the needs of the 21st century – adds the mayor of Taranto – We have not limited ourselves to converting paper processes into digital formats, but we have completely rethought the way in which services are provided allowing the citizens of Taranto to access municipal services more easily, reducing time and costs”.

“Our goal is to digitize 95% of services and modules, and we are on track to achieve it. We are also working constantly to inform citizens both about the new services available online and about the presence in municipal offices of operators with the specific task of assisting anyone who needs support in using digital services – he continues – Our vision is clear: we want a modern, efficient and inclusive Taranto. For this reason, we are investing in the continuous training of our employees, so that they can be not only executors, but also promoters of change”.
