Once the season is over, the appointment with the report cards returns on Toro News: it’s Bellanova’s turn

Once the season is over, the appointment with the end-of-year report cards returns to Toro News: we will assign a grade to each player that summarizes the 2023/2024 season. Enjoy the reading.

Valentino Lazaro has disappointed in every way this season. Torino almost never managed to be dangerous on the left wing, a role in which the Austrian was almost always the starter, returning to the squad after last season’s loan and acquired on a permanent basis. Precisely because of this inability to create in that lane, the grenade’s maneuver was often predictable and not very creative. All things considered, it was a clear market error to believe that Lazaro could be the starter on the left wing. The Austrian has played 35 games this year, of which 21 as a starter. Unlike his teammate Bellanova, Lazaro almost never manages to stand out, making several mistakes in the defensive phase and almost never managing to become dangerous in the offensive phase.

Top match, Verona-Turin 2-1: 36th matchday

One of Lazaro’s best matches was played against Verona, in a match that was overturned at the end. Coming on in the 55th minute to replace Rodriguez, he often manages to make himself dangerous. It was from him that both the assists for Savva and Pellegri came. He makes very few mistakes and allows his teammates to turn the game around. His entry was truly decisive.

Flop match, Inter-Torino 2-0: 34th matchday

One of the worst matches played by Valentino Lazaro was Inter-Torino. The match was negative for almost all the Granata players, but especially for the Austrian winger. At his hands there was a bad turnover during Calhanoglu’s opening goal, the episode then changed the match together with Tameze’s red card. The Austrian was then replaced in the 63rd minute for Vojvoda.

Lazaro, the end-of-season report card: the vote

The left lane was the weakest department for Torino this year. Lazaro almost never brought that breath of danger, which is necessary in that role, especially for Juric’s game. Buying him definitely didn’t turn out to be a great move. His overall score is 5, full failure. He often struggles to skip the man and is unable to be precise in crosses, he is not very present in the defensive phase. For next season it will be necessary to make some considerations on that role.
