Agreement signed between the Province of Alessandria and the FAI for the valorization of Palazzo Ghilini

Alexandria – The Province of Alessandria has signed an agreement with the FAI Delegation of Alessandria, represented by the Head of Delegation Devis Zamburlin, to promote accompanied visits of Palazzo Ghilini, the administrative headquarters of the organization since 1869, one of the most important and monumental historical buildings in the city.
A further step for the valorisation of this authentic jewel defined as “the true royal palace of the city of Alessandria”, with Piedmontese Baroque style architecture which owes its name to its client, the Marquis Tommaso Ottaviano Antonio Ghilini who had it built in the 18th century designed by the Asti architect Benedetto Alfieri.
The history of the Ghilini family moves in parallel with the history of the City of Alessandria since its foundation: bishops, cardinals, men of letters, captains of arms, diplomats.
The FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano, is a non-profit foundation founded in 1975, on the model of the National Trust, today a third sector body carries out its activity at a national level with the aim of protecting and enhancing the historical, artistic and landscape heritage Italian.
Its organization also develops on a territorial basis and in Alessandria a Delegation has been active for many years which has successfully promoted numerous awareness campaigns for the protection of cultural places within its area competence.
Thanks to this agreement it will be possible to open Palazzo Ghilini to the public for visits accompanied by volunteers aimed at schools and groups, but also in conjunction with national FAI events (FAI Spring and Autumn Days, FAI Days for schools) and on the occasion of particular local initiatives of tourist value.
For the President of the Province “Palazzo Ghilini is one of the most important and fascinating buildings in the city. This agreement would allow us to enter a circuit of historical places promoted by FAI, becoming an element of tourist attraction for the city”.
The visits are totally free and take place from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 13.00 and are aimed at schools and organized groups of visitors (minimum 10 people).
The groups will be accompanied by volunteer staff from the FAI – Alessandria Delegation.
