About the season
“Overall it was a pretty difficult season. The objective was salvation and the coach had already said straight away that it would be very difficult at the beginning, but then as time went by we would improve and salvation would come down to the last few days. He was right. In the end there was a lot of satisfaction, with the goal we worked towards all year achieved. At the beginning of the season after seven games we were last, also because last June Cagliari was the last team to rise to Serie A and, as is normal, there were initial difficulties regarding the tight deadlines in building the team.” .
On the relationship with Ranieri and the experience
“I had already worked with the coach for two years when he coached Sampdoria. He called me last summer when Cagliari was promoted to Serie A, asking me to come and work with him. I gladly accepted. I felt very comfortable, I had no doubts about the coach because I already knew him, both from a professional and human point of view. Extraordinary person. We already had a great feeling at Sampdoria. Then I found myself very well in the Cagliari environment, with the club and with all the professionals, both in the technical part but also in the Asseminello sports centre, with all the figures who work there and gravitate towards it. It was a great experience from a professional technical point of view and also essentially from a human point of view“.
