AWARDED BY PARTICIPATING IN THE COMPETITION DEDICATED TO SCHOOLS “THE UN CONVENTION FOR THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES” –

The awards ceremony for the winners of the ideas competition dedicated to schools “The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” took place.

On the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities on 3 December 2023, the Social Policies, Education and Educational Services Sector of the City of Asti has proposed to the school world some stimuli to reflect together on inclusion, through the reading and analysis of the articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. A competition of ideas was proposed dedicated to the city’s primary and secondary schools. All the classes that participated were given a copy of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and were asked to “adopt” one of the 50 articles of the text, to study it further in class and to create an artistic work on the chosen item.
In total, 13 works including literary texts, videos or artistic compositions were delivered by schools of all levels which were evaluated by a special commission, made up of
Manager of the Social Policies, Education and Educational Services Sector, by the Councilor for Social Services and Education and by the officials responsible for the two Services involved.
The three winners, one for each school level involved (primary, lower secondary, upper secondary) received as a prize a voucher to spend on school supplies.

Below is the ranking of the winners:

  • Primary Schools: 3rd C class of the Rio Crosio School who participated by creating a real “Kamishibai”, accessible through the use of different language systems (CAA, LIS, BRAILLE)
  • Lower secondary schools: class 2^C Ic2 Goltieri with the work “Comic strip: Licia & co. – Our urban odyssey”, in which the children tell, through a language appreciated and known by them, the comic strip, the difficulties that people with motor disabilities face in moving around the city.
  • Secondary schools: class 2A Enaip-Piemonte which, through the creation of a video, recounted the journey undertaken by the students and the experience they had to make the service they offer accessible to people with sensory disabilities.

A special mention is given by the commission to the elaborate “board games” created by the cl. 5th A and 5th B of the San Domenico Savio primary school, praised for the children’s creativity and achievement.
We also thank all the students who, despite not having won, participated with their works and were rewarded with a certificate of participation.

Special thanks to the CPIA who enthusiastically welcomed the initiative and made the premises and technical support available.
