The Municipality welcomes the young people who will do the Universal Civil Service

They are the 16 young people who will carry out the year of Universal Civil Service at the Municipality of Monza and who yesterday, Monday 3 June, were welcomed in the Council Room for a moment of welcome in the presence of the Youth Councilor Andreina Fumagalli and discussion with young people to introduce them to the reality of the Municipality and listen to their thoughts, their expectations and their first impressions.

“Participation in the Universal Civil Service – observes the Councilor for Youth – is both an opportunity for maturation and training for those who participate and a precious and concrete contribution to the work carried out by the Municipality and, consequently, an added value for the community ”.

Introduced in 1972 as an alternative to military service reserved for those who declared themselves conscientious objectors, participation is now on a voluntary basis and reserved for young people aged between 18 and 28. This is a year of volunteering experience in public bodies or private bodies in the third sector (non-profit) to carry out tasks of social utility or cultural promotion.

One of the objectives of the Universal Civil Service is to be an opportunity for training and personal and professional growth for young people, who during the year also participate in general and specific training sessions and – throughout the entire experience – are followed by a manager within the organisation.
