A memorandum of understanding for the valorisation of the Liberty buildings in Piazzale Marconi in Bergamo: signed last Friday 31 May by the President of the Province, Pasquale Gandolfiand the president of the Local Public Transport Agency, Angela Ceresoli.
The signing of the document is the prerequisite for the presentation of the valorization program to the State Property Agency, the current owner, which will take place in the next few weeks. Once the evaluation process has been completed, the transfer of the properties to the Province will be possible and the necessary interventions for the reconversion to the new functions can be planned, which should also include spaces for co-working and associations.
Associative activities and sustainable mobility
This brings to a conclusion an intense work, carried out by the two bodies, for the use of the buildings aimed at sustainable mobility functions and activities. Once intended to house the head stations of the Val Brembana and Val Seriana railways, today they host the Arriva offices and some commercial activities.
«With the renovation of the station and the creation of an intermodal hub between rail, tramways and buses – explained the Tpl Agency -, the buildings can represent a valuable reference point for users of public transport and, more generally, for activities of public importance connected to public and shared mobility”.
The valorization program
Interpreting this possible vocation the Agency, at the invitation of the Province and with the contribution of the professor Mauro Baioni, has created an overall valorisation programme, which can be presented from via Tasso to the State Property Agency. This is to achieve the transfer from the State to territorial bodies, within the framework of the rules on cultural federalism.
