Milan | Casoretto/Turro – Redevelopment of via Padova: early June 2024

Milan Casoretto and Turro. Here we are again to show you some photos from the endless construction site for the redevelopment and road arrangement of via Padovathe last time was January and we have seen little progress to be honest.

It should be remembered that Via Padova it is a very long street that crosses various neighborhoods and districts of Milan. It begins its long journey from Loretto and from its square, continues crossing NoLothe Trotter area, the Casoretto, Turro and Rottole, Cimiano, Crescenzago and ends at Cascina Gobba practically, skirting, in the last stretch, also the Martesana canal and encroaching on the Municipality of Vimodrone.

The long way often turns out to be a planet apart. It is often referred to as a particular and difficult neighborhood, especially in the initial part, where we find a population mostly made up of immigrants from South Americafrom Asia and from Maghreb, which create a small world of its own, a mix that however lives in the deepest degradation and discomfort a stone’s throw from Loreto. Especially in the part around Via Chavez, renamed by some as “Churro” (because it sounds like Turro but with reference to the classic sweet stick-shaped pancakes of the Hispanic tradition).

The section affected by the intervention goes from via Giacosa until Via Leonardo Cambiniin front of church of San Giovanni Chrysostom.

In recent months, since last January, sections of pavement have been completed and flowerbeds created, although in our opinion the operation is going a bit slowly. As we reiterate every time, with the money they spent on covering the stone paving, perhaps they would have redeveloped the entire street. Furthermore, as can be seen from the images and as happens in via Giambellino, many sections are already dirty from the activities present in the street.
