The project concluded with an event in the theater StartHat Artisan Workshops Abruzzo Youth 2021.

On the first day of June Municipal Theatre Of Atri hosted an event that aroused a lot of interest, not only for its originality, but also because it represents an action to recover two artisanal materials perhaps a little forgotten in today’s working practice.

The StartHat Abruzzo Giovani 2021 Artisan Workshops project concluded with an event at the Municipal Theater of Atri

The event, in fact, concerned the project “StartHat Artisan Workshops” which the Abruzzo Region financed under the name “Abruzzo Youth 2021”.

The project concerns the 23rd district and had the associations as partners Steam Fantasy And ASA, the Atriana Student Association.

The initiative saw the participation of twenty young people and involved the acquisition of technical-practical work knowledge for two artisan workshops: goldsmithing and mosaic.

These two activities have had great importance in the entire Abruzzo region in past centuries. In fact, in many towns and cities there were artisan workshops that created true masterpieces of art in the two aforementioned sectors.

Certainly the times and traditions were very different: the boys entered the various workshops as apprentices from an early age and had to pay “the master” to be able to learn from him the first rudiments and principles of the various arts and crafts.

Many of them, after a long period of learning, managed to surpass the teachers.

In some centers of Abruzzo there were real native schools of goldsmith and mosaic art and their products often had a strong demand even from foreign countries.

The many goldsmith and mosaic artists present in Abruzzo

How can we forget the many goldsmith and mosaic artists present in Abruzzo? It is impossible to mention them as the list would be too long.

Museums, churches, homes of nobles and even modest families jealously preserve jewels and mosaics.

In the palaces and churches of many towns in Abruzzo, many mosaics are beautifully displayed, many restored and returned to their ancient splendor.

Many Abruzzo artisans in these two sectors, goldsmithing and mosaic, have created wonderful works even outside our Region.

Having given attention today to the development of these two artisan activities represents a note of merit for the associations Steam Fantasy And ASA, the Atriana Student Associationfor the Abruzzo Region and for those who collaborated for the success of the initiative.

Some involved in the project explained the path that transformed the idea into a successful reality.
