“Cremona is you”: vaccines and new hospital, open problems in healthcare

The critical issues of healthcare are examined by illustrious speakers in the event organized by the list “Cremona sei tu!” at the Monteverdi theater. The candidates are present Claudia Balotta and Ida Beretta with the leaders Luciano Pizzetti. Host the infectious disease specialist Massimo Gallithe professor Marco Trabucchi president of the Italian association of Psychogeriatrics e Roberto Mariani mayor of Stagno Lombardo and president of the assembly of mayors of the Cremonese social company.

Between shortages of healthcare personnel, hostility towards vaccinations, uncertainties about the new hospital in Cremona and urgencies linked to the increase in the number of elderly people, the discussion has developed, highlighting the contradictions and excellences of a healthcare system that is increasingly in difficulty.

Balotta reiterated that the public-private relationship cannot be ignoredan infectious disease specialist involved in identifying the virus responsible for Covid in the first months of 2020, avoiding preferential routes that could benefit private individuals. Excellent RSAs in Lombardy reiterated Trabucchi, starting with Cremona Solidale. Unfortunately, however, despite the aging of the population, there are no investments planned that would be necessary to create geriatric care facilities throughout Italy.

The infectious disease specialist Galli, famous for his numerous interventions during the pandemic, underlined how there is a real flop for all types of vaccination, including the flu vaccine, resulting in the destruction of vaccines already purchased and now expiring. Ida Beretta, former administrative director of the Cremona hospital and now president of the Friends of the Hospital association, admitted that Even within the association there are doubts about the construction of the new hospital and that the project probably should have been shared better with the company. Reflection also endorsed by Mayor Mariani who recalled the serious shortcomings of local healthcare and the lack of healthcare personnel, starting with family doctors. At the end Luciano Pizzetti he recalled how the Cremona area, even in the healthcare sector, shows a series of weaknesses and the lack of shared identity. “I have changed my mind about the new hospital, I am convinced that it is necessary and in any case it has now been decided. There is no point in continuing to oppose it, the problem is not whether it will be done, but how.”
